Highs an' Lows

I seem to have a crush on my sat student. She's an 18 year old musician/artist/writer/all around creative chick. Half Greek, half Turkish, from the UK. Absolutely stunning--and she seems to have a crush on me.

I have some vague moral/ethical issues about the fact that I'm clearly flirting with a student who's 16 years younger than me, who's paying for my services (not THOSE services). But i'm insecure, and having her flirt with me is good for confidence. Having her sleep with me would probably be even better for confidence.

So what did I do? I've had students before--many of them very attractive. I never got this feeling from any of them in the past. I'm not sure when the flirting started--I definitely spoke well/powerfully when I was talking to her, joking a bit, tossing out things that students tend to find fun/funny about the test "You really get 200 points for writing your NAME?" Also a lot of inherent rapport building and DHV at the same time---jazz, travel, language. Some teasing/challenging as well--"I'll tell you about Boston after this math problem". She does the math problem. "Tell me now!" "No, do another math problem. You guys are paying good money for this, you know..." She kept me there half an hour after the session on Wednesday to play some piano...

There is also this element of power---when I feel it, I feel extremely dominant...I've had it with Rania, Brooke--it's extremely intense, and seems to be able to completely hold peopole within my attention. Had it with the Polish girl I met at the coffee shop as well, especially when we were talking about passions in life..

Anyway, I actually kind of like her. I don't know what that means, since I don't want to deal with that age diffrence, but we'll see.

So I felt somewhat on fire--I also chatted up a Turkish girl who was having a Starbucks break--I think she was more intent on practicing English than actually into me, although we chatted for about 10 minutes. I gave her my #, but probalby won't hear anything.

Tuesday and Wednesday--not great. Went out on what seemed to be turning into a date with Michelle D....excellent chemistry, and a bit of touching w/the reflexology hiccup thing that Leo showed me. She really is cute. Went for Sangria and tapas, then back to her place for Mojitos. Kitchen, though--not her room. I realized that, aside from the one "kino"...I hadn't done any escalation at all. Around 12:30 she said that she needed to kick me out. There was a quiet moment, I think, so I decided to reach for her hand to see how she took it. Didn't flinch like last time--it was also more natural. Anyway I got up to leave, and said something like "I should have done this before", and went to kiss her--she put her hand up, said "no--I have a boyfriend now". Didn't kill me--this isn't a Rebecca experience---I said down, nodded quickly, and said something like "Hey--good for you", to keep it mature and not awkward. I even thought of starting one of those Destroyer gigs--but I'm way inexperienced and didn't feel like it anyway--I said something like "he sounds really cool" to which she answered "Yeah he is"...and that was that. Gave her a hug good night. I think that I just timed things badly with her. I'm a bit disappointed, but not crushed. Thing is--I wasn't prepared to seriously date her (as in exclusively) at the moment, given the skills I'm trying to develop...so fair enough. Things are, I think, absolutely fine between us. I think I'll keep a slight distance (as in no flirting/easy on the date-like interactions) but not really act any differently.

Thursday (tonight) met up with Charlie at Road House. Road House is fun, but too loud...first opener could have worked well. I walked up to 2 women:

"Hi, have you seen a guy named Charlie"?
"What??"
"He wears contact lenses."
"How the hell would we know..."

I could easily have done something with this. But my mind was off, and the music was too loud.

Opened 2 blondes at the bar--something about flipping cocktail glasses. Didn't go far. Asked 2 girls if they knew how to salsa, or where the nearest club was. Nothing. Tried a more direct one--walked up to a girl...said "Hi. My name's Steve...I don't normally introduce myself to women in bars..." or something....she wasn't into it, but I followed up with "do you like the band"...not a great ineraction, but got a chance to comment on her accent.

Again, though--loud bar, have REAL trouble. I didn't bother approaching anyone on the dancefloor b/c I wouldn't be able to hear them, and they probably wouldn't be able to hear me.I need a workaround.

Good Tube sarge the way back, though--saw a tall brunette with Happy 30th balloons. Rather than "Happy Birthday", I decided to go with "How's it feel?" Maybe Happy Birthday would have been fine. But something felt more...er..."ALPHA" about doing it this way! So we talked about age and 30's and memory and nights out. I gave her crap about her not remembering which restaurant she went to.....good interaction.

A minute later, a girl sitting next to me was reading a book. I saw the word "Geisha" but overthought that it might look weird to be reading over her shoulder. Stupid. Anyway, when she packed the book up I saw it, and asked how she liked it. Trouble with the interaction, probably due to language, but I PLoWED THROUGH AGAIN, and when she said her first language wasn't English, I asked "what is it?" Hungarian. I used Kosozom and Eger as High Values (worked well) and teased her that I knew her country better than she did.

Good night on the tube. I need to figure out how to manage sound better....
